Le Belvédère Summer Wedding

I have been dreaming of photographing at Le Belvédère since I started shooting weddings in the Ottawa area nearly eight years ago, and that long-held wish finally came true. This past summer I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity, and I couldn’t have asked for a kinder, more fun couple than Alana and Devin — their warmth made working with them an absolute pleasure, and their entire wedding party was a genuine joy to be around. Because they didn’t have many expectations for posed shots, I was free to take a documentary approach and capture countless candid, in-the-moment photographs that truly reflected the day. It was a hazy afternoon from wildfire smoke, so while the sun still shone it cast a strange, beautiful hue across the sky — a mood that rendered the late afternoon images especially interesting and glowy. Le Belvédère has quickly become one of my favourite venues to photograph; the staff are incredible, not only toward their clients but also supportive and welcoming to vendors, which can easily make or break a vendor’s experience. I’m already looking forward to the next time I get to shoot there.
