Sunrise Engagement Session - Algonquin Park

On a VERY buggy spring morning, Payton, Rick, and myself hiked up the Barron Canyon Trail. So many people are convinced that the sunset at Barron Canyon is the best, and they are not wrong, but mannnnnn you’ve gotta see sunrise here. Especially when the fog is still present within the canyon and the sun is just creeping over the pine horizon - it’s like nothing you’v ever seen. BUT those damn bugs sure do bring you back to reality super fast haha.

Sunrise began at 5:30 AM for this end of May session as an fyi.

A good thing to know is that the bugs are terrible in Algonquin from the middle of May to typically the end of July. Sometimes the mosquitos can wreck havoc up until mid September depending on the weather that is present throughout the warm seasons.

This session was an absolute dream and you probably wouldn’t believe me when I say we shot this in 20 minutes because again, those damn bugs. It’s my job to power through and achieve as many images as I can when circumstances like that arise. You just roll with the punches and remind yourself this is a learning experience as well as a really great story for your clients!

I can’t wait for September to document Payton + Rick’s wedding day :)
