Taylor and Morgan believe it or not, were nervous they would be too awkward in front of the camera. They wanted some suggestions for a beachy location and without my knowledge of where they were located, I suggested Black Bear Beach in Petawawa as it does offer a really romantic backdrop when it comes to golden hour. They drove all the way from Ottawa, trusting my suggestion and I am so glad they did. Nothing truly hits better than golden hour for a maternity session. Don’t get me wrong, I love an artistic approach with harsh light, but when it comes to a maternity session, I prefer working with a softer light to emulate the softness that comes with pregnancy.
We lucked out with a breezy evening that helped give off those beachy summer vibes with the perfect amount of waves coming off the Ottawa River. Tie that in with one of the best sunsets I have seen at Black Bear Beach, and we received a DREAMY outcome for maternity photos. These two knocked it out of the park letting go of control and just having fun with the session. My goal is to always highlight a couple with how they truly interact with each other so that when they look back on their images, they remember how much fun they had being themselves. Taylor truly shined so bright in these photos and the end result really did present me with easily one of the most gorgeous maternity sessions I have shot to date!
If you’re hoping to achieve a similar vibe for your maternity session, this was shot roughly early August with a due date of mid September. We started shooting at 7:45pm and went right till the sun went down!
